Derek Tan will succeed Kelvin Wong as CEO of the Building and Construction Authority, taking over fully on May 1, 2026. He will join as CEO-designate on April 1.
Currently executive director of planning and chief infrastructure planning officer at the Ministry of National Development, Mr Tan has nearly 27 years of public service experience across MND and the Housing and Development Board. He has led underground utilities transformation efforts and worked closely with agencies such as the National Parks Board.
He previously held roles at the Land Transport Authority and was founding CEO of EV-Electric Charging, contributing to Singapore’s EV charging infrastructure rollout. His experience in the built environment sector positions him well for the role.
Mr Wong, CEO since November 2020, will step down on May 1. During his tenure, he guided the sector’s recovery from COVID-19, strengthened industry collaboration, and oversaw key initiatives in safety, energy efficiency, accessibility, and innovation.
MND and BCA expressed appreciation for Mr Wong’s contributions and welcomed Mr Tan to his new role.
